Kundalini Yoga

What Is Kundalini Yoga ?

Kundalini Yoga is a form of Royal or Raj yoga that was brought to the western world in 1969 by Yogi Bahjan.

It is a blend of Bhakti yoga (the yogic practice of devotion and chanting), Raja yoga (the practice of mediation/mental and physical control) and Shakti yoga, (for the expression of power and energy).

At the heart of Kundalini Yoga is your connection with the breath.  This is very powerful as the simple act of connecting with your breath has many benefits especially for the nervous system in activating the parasympathetic nervous system.  Meditation is part of every class along with a set of asanas (postures) that distribute energy around the body to work on a specific mental or physical health aspect.

I trained as a Level 1 Kundalini Yoga teacher accredited by the Kundalini Research Institute (KRI). The KRI Level 1 teacher training is a 220-hour professional certification program in Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan®. The thread of my training runs through my work as I share some of the practices such as breathing exercises which help with relaxation, reducing anxiety to helping you focus on something particular.  Meditations from kundalini yoga are a gift to share for your own self-care.  Tension and stress can get caught up in our physical body and there are some very simple postures that can help release tension held in the physical body and I demonstrate and share these with you as part of your after care at the end of your treatment.  These all form the tools that I share with you for your own toolkit to take away with you and call on them when needed.
